Super Deduction Scheme – A time for change

24 June 2021
Manufacturing in the UK has been in flux for the last 18 Months. Increased demands, short material supplies, staff availability, personal safety. These are just a few of the issues that you are having to deal with daily. You can’t afford not to take advantage of the UK Government’s Super Deduction Scheme!

What is it?

The super deduction scheme offers 130% first-year relief on qualifying main rate plant and machinery investments until 31 March 2023 for companies.

This is significantly higher than the previous 18% writing down allowance for investment in main rate plant and machinery.

The net result of this is that under the scheme, for every £1 a company invests in qualifying equipment, their taxes will be cut by up to 25p.

Lets read that again “For every £1 spent the company production equipment £1.25 is received in tax relief

An example

If you spend £50,000 with Robotas you will be able to deduct £65,000 (130% of your investment) against your taxable profits (corporation tax).

Who is eligible?

The super deduction allowance is only available to companies based in the UK who pay corporation tax. This saving is significant because it offsets the upcoming increase in corporation tax from 19% to 25% from April 2023. This will apply to companies with more than £50,000 in profit (those with fewer profits will pay corporation tax at the current 19% rate).

Why invest?

Here are three reasons why you should be using the Super Deduction Tax Scheme to invest in your manual assembly process.

  1. Manual Assembly is the most time-consuming and expensive process in your facility and difficult to ramp up.
  2. Because of the human element, Manual Assembly, it is the process area that leads to the most errors and rework.
  3. Assembly work is reliant on the training and quality of staff and retention and finding new people is currently exceedingly difficult.

Robotas Hand Assembly Systems can optimise the Manual Assembly process, giving you a significant improvement to all of the issues listed above
